Position: Managing Director

Location: Acton & Tolworth, initially five days a week. Newbury and Southwest after proven.

Salary details: £150k comprised of salary and bonus, with LTIP and PMI.

BACKGROUND / ROLE MOTIVATION

  • Our client is a dynamic entrepreneur led business part owned by at least 25 employees and has seen significant growth over the past 10 years.
  • The group consists of two halves; Domestic Removals and Storage based in various sites at primary locations in London (North & South), Newbury, and Bath.
  • We are looking for a dynamic leader, Managing Director, with a proven track record as CEO but not necessarily in moving, to drive the continued success of the client brands across all sites in the group but with a primary focus initially on London.
  • Our clients most significant growth has been through acquisition and the successful consolidation of acquired businesses. It is anticipated that this will continue under your leadership.
  • The clients current yearly sales are forecast to reach over £20m in the current year ending September with a budget of c£11.3m direct costs and c£5.3m in overheads.
  • London accounts for 80% of the revenue and 70% of ebitda. Of this NW10 represents the bulk, 65%, with the South London brand the newest to the group and yet to fulfil its potential.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • The ideal candidate will have energy, tenacity, and enthusiasm to lead and collaborate with the committed team and drive this well-established business forward and continue the exciting growth experienced over the past 17 years.
  • The successful candidate will be “switched on,” motivating, and possess an all-round skillset associated with such a senior role in a small to medium sized enterprise including Finance, Sales, and People.
  • The MD will be responsible for the implementation and management of all business streams and clients brands. The Group has a clear vision and strategy, a strong stable group of executives in the individual brands, depth at Board level, and is a market leader, with a growing geographical spread. The new MD would be expected to bring the team together and increase the sense of urgency in achieving the Group’s ambitions as well as drive new opportunities and acquisitions for this growing business.
  • The client has expanded through a combination of acquisition and organic growth, with multiple brands in different regions and across the price spectrum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for the growth strategy, linking short- and long-term performance objectives and targets to company strategy, goals, and growth objectives.
  • Prepare the business for separation from the Bishopsgate business (in terms of leases and structure)
  • Identify and execute significant new growth opportunities including acquisitions.
  • marketing channel, partnerships, M&A,
  • Lead and develop the divisional heads, and encourage the sharing of information and best practices, creating an environment in which they can deliver to their full potential.
  • Understand and develop the marketing, particularly in the online space, and the integration and expansion of technology within the business.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Track record of leadership at senior or mid-executive level, within a consumer-facing industry such as logistics and retail.
  • strong marketing and tech understanding
  • Proven capability in coaching and mentoring talent as well as executive management
  • Proven experience in driving client acquisition within a relevant sector if preferable.
  • Proven relationship management and influencing capability across a range of stakeholders(Including shareholders)
