Recycling Communications Officer – Cardiff

As a Recycling Communications Officer, you will become the voice of Cardiff’s innovative recycling and waste service. Engaging directly with residents, community groups, schools, and trade customers, your mission will be to educate and inspire the community about the importance of correct waste presentation, the myriad benefits of recycling, and strategies to minimize waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement: Actively engage with the residents of Cardiff, community groups, and schools through door knocking and organized community outreach sessions.
  • Education and Advocacy: Clearly and compellingly communicate the methods and benefits of correct waste presentation, recycling, and waste reduction.
  • Project Implementation: Play a crucial role in rolling out programs to enhance segregated recycling in flats.
  • Data Collection and Strategy Development: Conduct face-to-face surveys and on-street monitoring to gather valuable insights.
  • Adaptability and Teamwork: Work flexibly to meet service demands. Embrace change and communicate new initiatives effectively to both the team and the community.
  • Public Interaction and Customer Service: Address public inquiries and feedback positively, reinforcing the community’s trust in Cardiff’s recycling and waste management services.

What We’re Looking For

  • A genuine passion for the environment and the drive to make a difference.
  • confident communicator, comfortable speaking with a wide range of people.
  • The ability to explain recycling and waste minimisation actions clearly and persuasively.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving service demands.
  • A proactive approach to embracing change and effectively communicating it to others.

Pay Rate £25,183 – £27.269
