About the Role: As a Refuse Collector, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our community. Key Responsibilities:
- Collection of Refuse: Efficiently and safely collect refuse and recyclable materials from residential and commercial properties. This involves handling a variety of waste containers, including bins and bags, ensuring all refuse is collected promptly and without spillage.
- Sorting and Segregation: Properly sort and segregate materials into designated categories to facilitate recycling processes. Attention to detail is crucial to ensure that recyclable materials are not mixed with general waste.
- Operation of Equipment: Operate collection vehicles and equipment safely and competently. This includes understanding the controls and mechanisms of refuse collection trucks and ensuring all equipment is maintained in good working order.
- Community Interaction: Engage with members of the community in a polite and respectful manner.
- Address any concerns or queries related to waste collection and provide guidance on proper waste disposal practices.
- Route Management: Follow assigned routes with precision, ensuring that all scheduled collections are completed within the allocated time frame. You will be responsible for reporting any missed collections or issues encountered along the route to the relevant supervisors.
- Adherence to Health and Safety Guidelines: Strictly follow all health and safety regulations, including wearing the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Report any hazards, near misses, or accidents to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with your colleagues to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently.
- Effective communication and collaboration are essential to maintaining a smooth and effective refuse collection service.
- Environmental Impact: Contribute to the reduction of landfill waste by promoting recycling and sustainable waste management practices. Your role is vital in supporting environmental initiatives and enhancing community welfare.
Shifts and Pay:
- £11.44 Per hour
- Hours at 06:45am till 16:30pm , 37hrs per week.
