Former Group 1 Auto UK boss Mark Bridgland joins OEM

Mark Bridgland, who recently left the managing director’s post at Group 1 Automotive UK after 10 years with the motor retailer, has joined truck and bus firm Scania.

He has become Scania’s UK sales director and will guide its truck, bus and power solutions sales teams while the company adapts to industry-wide powertrain transitions in a bid to reduce carbon emissions.

Bridgland had been with Group 1 since 2013, initially overseeing its finance and insurance function, then becoming operations director and eventually managing director in 2022, before he left eight months later.

At Scania UK, its managing director Chris Newitt said: “I am delighted to welcome Mark to Scania UK. He has a proven track record and will bring a wealth of valuable experience into the business and the sales team.”

Bridgland said: “Scania is known around the world for its heritage, innovation, and deep engineering integrity. It’s my privilege to lead this fantastic company’s sales division in the UK through this exciting period of transition.
