Steve, the husband of Aligra Hinckley’s Branch Manager Claire Darby suffers from Huntington’s Disease. Out of the blue in December 2015 he was diagnosed with this rare illness that causes the progressive breakdown and degeneration of nerve cells in the brain. After working all his life as a HGV driver, Steve had to surrender all his licences in 2016.
When we heard of Steve’s need for a downstairs disability toilet to make life a bit easier, the Aligra team decided to act!
Aligra agreed to match all funds raised by the staff. Any surplus sponsorship will be provided to the Huntingdon’s Disease Association.
Branch Operations Manager
“If someone had told me 4 years ago I would be a Branch Manager for a recruitment company I would not believe them. After graduating university I spent six months travelling the United States and returned home to begin building my career.
I initially joined Aligra in 2017 as a Resourcer. It wasn’t long before Aligra were awarded a new contract in Andover, which was an amazing opportunity for me and gave me the opportunity to manage a temporary workforce of up to 100 a day. The contract taught me a huge amount, from participating in senior management meetings to 360 account management. I have always been a motivated character, I like to embrace any opportunity which really made Aligra the perfect match for me.
We faced some BIG challenges early on but despite my inexperience in the Industry the Directors showed nothing but belief in me and pushed me forward, supporting and coaching me along the way. Fast forward three years our success and growth within Andover has meant I am now the Branch Operations Manager of our Andover branch. This is a fantastic opportunity for me and the support I received from the management and team was outstanding. I can honestly say Aligra is a brand I am proud to represent, they reward hard work and dedication and have propelled my career forward whilst investing in me as a person.
The opportunities they have given me have undoubtedly given me the chance to be where I am today. The support network they provide both inside and outside the work place makes Aligra more than just the place I work, it’s a second family. I am excited for the future that lays ahead for myself and the team, and uncapped potential for our careers.
Looking forward to the next chapter of our Aligra Journey.”
Account Manager
“I joined Aligra in 2015, embarking on a totally new career having previously worked within Estate Agency.
It was a leap of faith for me to start something completely new, but five years down the line I’m glad I took that leap! Within a few months of working at Aligra, I was given the huge responsibility of managing and growing an established HGV client account, something I loved and could really sink my teeth into! After a short while, I became a 360 consultant, introducing new client sales visits, managing other A-Z clients, and growing our business.
A great attribute to working for Aligra, the sky really is the limit – no idea is classed as useless, and our MD Mark Neilson is open to ideas and for us to work to our own strengths to grow the business in any way that we think will be beneficial!
After taking maternity leave in 2017, I was fortunate enough that Aligra really supported my return on a part time basis, a challenge in itself at times, there’s never enough hours in an Account Manager’s working day but I could not have been more supported! Starting on just 2 days a week, to slowly increasing my hours again, my new circumstances were taken into consideration – and I got to continue working the role that I love!
Recruitment is a difficult industry to be in, yet the most rewarding, exciting career you can embark on if you have an energy and passion to succeed and grow your business!”
Account Coordinator
“I started in with Aligra in early 2018 as a temporary Resourcer paid on a weekly basis, I was brought in to help for around a month or so to resource candidates for a peak our client was going through.
My job was solely to call and vet suitable candidates on a very high volume basis. I had always wanted to try working in recruitment and with some training I started straight away and really took enjoyment out of what I was doing. On my second day we suddenly needed a very large volume of staff to start as soon as possible, everybody in the office including the MD got involved.
This showed me straight away the real togetherness within Aligra. Going forward I began to find my own way of doing things and knew that this was a career I really wanted to progress, I was told to keep working hard and I will get a permanent contract which one month after my start date I was given. My role slowly began to change and I was given more responsibility and learnt various other tasks and skills.
I am an Account Coordinator and was key to an opening of a new branch and I love my job. There are many lows but all the highs and positives outweigh this every single day.
I still have lots to learn and lots of room for progression but with the fantastic support and training from the management in Aligra there is no end of what we can achieve.”
