Pay and Schedule (No weekends)
- Monday to Friday
- 11am – 7pm
- £12.30 – £13.00 DOE
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist with the planning and coordinating of the organisations transport operations,
ensuring the efficient running of the transport office. - To work closely with the Transport Controllers and Transport Manager to drive improvement in key efficiencies, as well as continuously striving to improve safety and driving standards
- Ensure a comprehensive shift handover is completed with the Assistant Transport Controller on the previous shift.
- Assist the Transport Controller in conducting daily briefings and de briefings for the drivers, liaising with the Transport Controller / Transport Manager as appropriate. Ensure driver signatures are obtained and paperwork returned.
- Ensure all company processes and procedures are carried out on site.
- Assist with the monitoring of the daily operational plan, responding appropriately to any delays or issues.
- Support the Transport Controller to ensure the departure / arrival schedule is kept up to date, and that routes leave at agreed departure times.
- Assist the Transport Controller to schedule all customer requirements, ensuring that all vehicles and trailers are allocated to the correct routes.
- Assist the Transport Controller to ensure the transport management system is continuously updated and all data is entered promptly and accurately.
- Help the Transport Controller ensure all drivers complete daily pre-shift inspections (vehicle checks) and that all relevant information is properly recorded.
- Assist the Transport Controller to make sure drivers report all defects, damages and accidents, ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed as necessary. Report all findings to the Transport Manager.
- Assist the Transport Controller to control and inform drivers of tachograph infringements and ensure that they are completed and correctly signed.
- Help the Transport Manager report any short shipments / blowouts, ensuring all details are accurately recorded.
- Take responsibility for liaising with sub-contractors and driver’s vendors as and when required.
- Assist with the monitoring of the real time performance of the drivers and the fleet, escalating any areas of non- compliance.
People Management
- Conduct return to work interviews and help the Transport Controller, Transport Manager and HR department manage issues relating to employee absence.
- Complete induction paperwork for temporary workers and ensure this is returned to the HR
- Department in a timely fashion.
- Monitor the performance of the Drivers, ensuring any issues are reported to the Transport Controller / Transport Manager.
- Assist with the conduct of effective workforce planning to ensure the right number of people with the right skills are in the right place at the right time to deliver short and long term organisational objectives. This duty includes responsibility for arranging agency cover as and when required.
- Identify and liaise with the driver trainer on any training issues.
Health and Safety
- Enforce safe and clean working practices and ensure all company health and safety procedures are adhered to by all staff.
- Assist the Transport Controller / Transport Manager with the investigation and paperwork for the recording of workplace / vehicle accidents, helping to ensure all relevant paperwork is passed onto the general affairs department. Liaise with the driver trainer as and when required.
- Ensure faulty equipment, unsafe practices and any other potential hazards are reported to the Site Manager.
- Make sure all facilities are safe and secure at all times.
- Manage the requirement to maintain a clean and tidy working environment, ensuring staff fulfil their daily housekeeping responsibilities.
- Ensure all staff and visitors wear PPE within designated areas.
- Take responsibility for the product safety implications of your own actions and carry out duties in a manner that promotes the safe handling and supply of safe, authentic, legal and quality products.
