Palletways spices things up with new Bristol contract

Palletways Bristol has been awarded a spicy new contract by Bart Ingredients Ltd which sees the haulier take responsibility for all the manufacturer’s palletised freight distribution in the UK.

Palletways Bristol, which operates across the South West of England, becomes Bart Ingredients’ freight partner after a competitive tender, and will handle approximately 5,000 pallets a year delivering premium brand Bart and retailer-branded ingredients across the UK, primarily into large distribution centres.

Established in Bristol in 1963, Bart Ingredients has been sourcing, selecting and sharing premium quality herbs, spices and seasonings from around the world for nearly 60 years. It specialises in the creation of over 500 cooks’ ingredients including herbs, spices, seasonings, home-baking, sauces and pastes. Earlier this year, Bart Ingredients moved its operation from Bedminster, where it had been since 1983, to a brand new, purpose-built facility in Severn Beach.

Nick Abbott, Head of Operations and Warehouse for Bart Ingredients, said:

“From the start we were impressed with how Palletways Bristol has supported us to meet the increase in demand for our products. Home-cooking surged during the pandemic, with product sales almost doubling compared to the previous year.

They offer a high-quality service and were able to commit to a great local collection operation with significantly enhanced tracking information through its portal, and this attracted us to work with them. They have already helped us enormously to meet and exceed our delivery promises. And as members of the Palletways network, Palletways Bristol offer us further opportunities for growth through these IT innovations and wide geographical coverage in the UK and Europe.”

Matt Carter, Sales Manager at Palletways Bristol, said:

“The working relationship with Bart Ingredients is testament to the leading, quality service we provide. Being associated with such a prestigious, locally based brand complements our vision to be the carrier of choice in the south-west of England.”

Palletways Bristol is one of over 120 depots that are part of the Palletways UK network, belonging to Imperial, a DP World company. They benefit from shared expertise and resources from within the group to deliver consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost-effectively than ever before. The Palletways Group, renowned for its industry-leading IT developments and operational systems, comprises 450+ depots and 20 hub operations, through which it provides collection and distribution services across 24 European countries, including the UK.
