Premium tyre manufacturer Prometeon Tyre Group has signed a new ‘pay-as-you-go’ contract with Collease Truck and Trailer Hire for the provision of tyres for the leading truck rental company’s entire fleet.
Collease leases trucks and trailers from five sites: Manchester, Felixstowe, Southampton, Norwich and Basildon supporting its customers who deliver into distribution depots and hubs up and down the UK.
The Collease fleet totaling 1,920 vehicles can clock up to 100,000 km a week, consisting of 1520 trailers and nearly 400 motorised vehicles, of which half are tractor units. The remaining ranges from 26 tonne fridges to 3.5 tonne vans. Prometeon’s pay-as-you-go model replaces tyres when required and is a full managed offer consisting of comprehensive dealer management, fleet tyre audits, and a sophisticated on-line central billing portal, making it a highly cost effective option for the truck rental operator.
Martin Drewery, Maintenance Director at Collease Truck and Trailer Hire comments: ‘We know from running a fleet for over 40 years that Prometeon’s Pirelli-branded tyres give us the ‘price against life’ value that we need for our fleet. Our customers are looking for fuel efficiency, reliability and a premium tyre that is robust and hard wearing,’ says Drewery.
Prometeon are supplying tyres from their Itineris range to meet the price v life requirement, the majority of tyres fitted are IT-T90 for trailers, with IT-S90 being fitted to the steer and IT-D90 for drive axles.
Reliable and efficient customer service was a deciding factor for Collease when choosing a new tyre supplier. ‘It’s been a positive move getting Prometeon on board, and a seamless transition from our previous supplier,’ adds Drewery. In addition to the quality of the tyres themselves, I’ve been impressed with Prometeon’s on-line billing portal and their dedicated Call Centre team; their can do attitude has freed up additional time for us to focus on our customers, which has been a real benefit’ explains Drewery.
