Business group Logistics UK has named Collett & Sons Ltd the Road Transport Operator of the Year at its annual Logistics Awards, held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge on Thursday 7 December 2023. The Award category is sponsored by Visku.

Collett & Sons Ltd completed delivery of 450 wind turbine components to South Kyle Wind Farm in Dumfries & Galloway this year.  Consisting of 68-tonne nacelles, 73-tonne drive trains, 63-tonne hubs, 18-tonne blades and 150 individual tower sections, Collett has handled, transported and delivered all the components necessary to construct the 50 Nordex N133 wind turbines for the wind farm development. Throughout the entire project, Collett provided a dedicated Project Management Team to successfully handle all aspects of the farm’s construction, from the initial route surveys to the arrival of the components, to final delivery.

David Wells OBE, Chief Executive at Logistics UK commented: “The judges were highly impressed by the complexity and scale of this project, which was delivered successfully by Collett & Sons Ltd. I would like to congratulate Collett & Sons on its win; the company truly represents the ‘best of the best’ in the road transport sector.”

Logistics UK’s Logistics Awards 2023 recognise and celebrate the companies and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the logistics and supply industry over the past 12 months and who excel in their fields.
