Lookers has partnered with energy and infrastructure business Egg to expand its electric vehicle charging across its network.
Egg will help roll out a variety of 7kWh AC units and 150kWh DC rapid chargers across the group’s dealerships and 30 car manufacturer brands, including all-electric companies like Ora, BYD and Polestar.
Lookers has not revealed how many chargers will be installed as part of the total plans.
The partnership between Lookers and Egg includes supply, installation, service and maintenance of the chargers.
Duncan McPhee, Lookers’ chief operations director, said the partnership with Egg would help support customers make a “seamless and confident transition towards an all-electric, sustainable driving future”.
He said: “Customers making the switch to EV will be backed by the best advice and expertise and unrivalled choice and value – and underpinned by world class, customer-ready EV infrastructure available right across our network.”
Mike Hallam, Egg chief revenue officer, said that the new chargers will help keep vehicle stock powered up, but will also allow dealership experts to help demonstrate charging in action and highlight the features of various models.
He added: “Our solar and storage solutions will also give customers, interested in transitioning to clean energy, the opportunity to understand the practicalities of keeping that vehicle running.”
